By the sea, village elders Madam-i and Sukja quietly grieve Gamri while reminiscing about her warmth. Hye-jin visits Du-sik and gently urges him to let himself feel the pain fully. A voiceover of Gamri's handwritten letter—calling Du-sik her son and grandson and begging him to eat and live among people—finally breaks him, and he weeps openly for the first time.
